FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


Q. How long before my generator is installed?

A. After we receive your signed proposal and deposit, installation normally is scheduled within 7 business days.


Q. Which circuits can be put on a generator panel?

A. This depends on your individual comfort needs. If you choose to have your lights, refrigerator, or a whole home transfer, we can customize your circuits based on those necessities.


Q. What type of fuel does the generator use?

A. Your generator will run on either liquid propane or natural gas. Hathaway Power will act as a liaison to coordinate the upgrade of your gas meter with Virginia Natural Gas if required.


Q. Do I need to do anything with my generator during an extended power outage?

A. Yes. The oil level should be checked every 24-48 hours of continuous use. Compare it to driving your car at 65 mph for 2 days straight.


Q. How do I get routine maintenance on my generator?

A. Hathaway Power provides routine preventive maintenance on your generator with a semi-annual or annual service contract. We will send you a proposal for maintenance after your installation is complete. We also support your system with emergency service.
